LBA Early Learners Program IS A THEME-BASED ENGLISH Language Program. WE BELIEVE THAT young learners SHOULD develop SOCIAL, EMOTIONAL, PHYSICAL, AND PRACTICAL SKILLS THAT ARE ESSENTIAL FOR THEIR futures. WE PROVIDE THEME-BASED ACTIVITIES WHERE learners acquire AND APPLY THESE VALUABLE SKILLS.
WE HOPE TO MOLD STUDENTS THAT ARE RESPONSIBLE AND OF EXCELLENT CHARACTER BY MODELING GOOD BEHAVIOR, GIVING, MAKING CHOICES, EXERCISING INDEPENDENCE. We allow students to learn from failures and work through MISAPPREHENSIONS by SUPPORTING THEM IN THEIR STRUGGLES.
OUR CURRICULUM
Early childhood is a significant phase in each child’s life. It is a time for remarkable physical, mental, and social development that a child will use for the rest of his/her life.
We in the LBA Early Learners program are committed to provide a nurturing environment where your child will feel happy and safe and enjoy their first experience of school.
We support Howard Gardner’s Theory of Multiple intelligences that says intelligence is a pluralistic phenomenon, rather than a static structure with a single type of intelligence. Gardner believes that one form of intelligence is not better than another; they are equally valuable and viable. (Gardner, 1983) We believe that each child is unique, so they are to be accommodated individually by providing differentiated activities and age appropriate lessons.
LEARNING BY PLAYING
LBA believes that a student’s success depends on education that treats higher order skills like the ability to think, solve complex problems or interact critically through language and media, and these skills are acquired most effectively through socialization and play.
Our learning centers vary and some centers require them to mix with other students their age.
OUR CENTERS
ARTS & CRAFTS
Art helps children develop cognitive, social, and motor abilities. Friedrich Froebel, the father of kindergarten, believed that young children should be involved in both making their own art and enjoying the art of others. We expose our students to processed art, post their artworks, and go to museums for students to appreciate others’ works of art.
MUSIC & DANCE
Not only does music & dance boost brain power, but it is also beautiful and enjoyable. We provide many different kinds of music and activities for our early learners and give them chances to enjoy and appreciate sounds & movement. We also teach them how to use basic music instruments.
ENGINEERING
Problem solving, imagination, self-expression, mathematics, continuity and permanence, creativity, science, self-esteem, social and emotional growth, and fine motor development are just some of the things that children learn through engineering.
SCIENCE & DISCOVERY
For small children, science is an extension of their everyday world. They are naturally wonderers, explorers, and discoverers. We provide weekly science experiments and discoveries that are related to the month’s theme.
OUR YEAR-ROUND THEME
We have monthly theme where center activities evolve. These themes start from simple to a more complex ones to allow us to integrate the curriculum and plan our learning centers.
September: All About Myself / October: Superheroes and Book Characters / November: Fall and Thanksgiving
December: Christmas Around the World / January: Winter and World Culture / February: Planets
March: Dinosaurs and Transportation / April: Fruits and Vegetables / May: Animals and Earth Day / June: Dr. Seuss
OUR APPROACH
Our approach is to foster joy of learning, problem solving, experimentation and inquisitiveness while encompassing excellent character to provide a solid foundation for your child’s future. The emphasis is on learning through play guided by themes in an environment planned to stimulate discovery, independence and social interaction. Children are encouraged to help themselves, take initiative and become increasingly independent in order to develop self-esteem and social competence. It is important that children develop a sense of trust and are comfortable in their environment. The learning and development of the children is not just confined to the internal setting of school. We go out to safe outdoor play areas and set up field trips for more actual learning experience. We view the external environment as another classroom. This allows the children to explore their surroundings and exercise their imagination.
OUR CHARACTER TRAITS
We focus on eight character traits we wish each of our young learners to represent.
RESPECT, RESPONSIBILITY, HONESTY, CARING, GRATITUDE, FORGIVENESS, SERVANTHOOD, PERSEVERANCE.
