When you want to quit ask of the Lord...

Today's 90 Day NT Challenge Reading is Matthew 7 - 9.

Matthew 7:7 "Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock and it will be opened for you. 8 For everyone who asks receives; the one who seeks finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened.

Proverbs 24: 16 for the righteous falls seven times and rises again.

All of us have failures. We all have times when we respond in a way that is not right, times when our attitude is wrong and times when we do not humble ourselves when we should. In these times of heightened emotional states our first response is often wanting to quit. But quitting is never the solution, especially when we are emotional unstable. Our first response should be to turn and ask of the Lord!

In these times when you want to quit you will be tempted to say or do things you will regret. BUT WHAT WE SHOULD DO IS JUST BE QUIET.  James 1: 19 My dear brothers and sisters, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry, 20 because human anger does not produce the righteousness that God desires.

I find the hardest part for me is realizing the state of mind and heart I am in, before proceeding with making yet another mistake. Trusted friends and family, when given permission by you to help, can be of great assistance in realizing you are about to say or do something you will regret. So when you are upset and you sense your blood pressure rising, your hands shaking, your voice trembling, and tears beginning to form in the corner of your eye, just be still and say or do nothing.  Take a moment a begin to seek the Lord.

The Lord is faithful to answer when we ask of Him. Try not to rely on your own ability but instead just know that you will certainly fail without God's help. Sometimes we even fail with God's help in order to recognize our short comings and begin to do better. You can do better!
